Learn by doing
The ING Commercial Banking Graduate Programme is based on learning
by doing. This means you’ll get real responsibility from the moment
you walk in the door – and that you’ll be expected to contribute to
your team’s success and our business’s bottom line.
But you won’t be on your own. As part of the deal we offer a
training period of 14 to 16 months. During this, you will do two or
three short-term assignments (three to six months each, including
one abroad) in different parts of Commercial Banking. We’ll give
you intensive education and training together with other Commercial
Banking graduate entrants from around the world. And you will get
to know more about our strategy, customer approach, attitude to
risk and product solutions.
Once you have completed our graduate programme you’ll be ready to
move into your first full position as financial analyst, assistant
relationship manager or junior account manager.
It’s your career
We believe in facilitating talent, not leading
people by the hand, so the initiative you show will determine your
opportunities.
The heart of the ING Commercial Banking Graduate Programme is the
two or three short-term assignments you will do. We think it’s
essential for graduate entrants to gain experience in different
business and product lines. Possibilities include Clients,
Structured Finance, Financial Markets and General Lending, with one
assignment outside the country in which you are based.
In addition, you will get the following training opportunities:
• Intensive Banking Programme – a five-week,
on-campus international programme that provides an intensive
introduction to Commercial Banking. Here you will learn about our
approach to clients, industry strategies, financial analysis,
modelling, financial structuring and risk management. Plus you will
also work on key skills like negotiation, pitching and
presentation.
• Chartered Financial Analyst level 1 – enhance
your knowledge of Corporate and Investment Banking and demonstrate
your ability to go far, fast. We expect you to obtain the level 1
certificate within the 16 months of the programme.
Development
ING is committed to developing people. In
addition to on-the-job training and specialist courses, there is
also our ING International Graduate Curriculum, which aims to
develop you as an ING citizen starting with a three week programme
in the first year of your career and expanding your knowledge and
network in the IIGP curriculum. This four-year programme runs
alongside and supplements the ING Commercial Banking Graduate
Programme. It consists of two global cross-business learning
events:
- the three weeks ING International Graduate
Programme in your first year with ING
- the International Talent Conference in your
fourth year
In your second and third years you will be able
to take part in regional learning events in Europe, the Americas or
Asia Pacific.
Compensation and benefits
We believe that the top-quality service we
provide our clients should be reflected in the conditions of
employment and working conditions we offer our staff. You can
expect excellent conditions of employment, extensive benefits, and
a pleasant working environment that enables you to turn in a
winning performance every day. Local conditions will apply.
As a trainee on the ING Commercial Banking Graduate Programme, you
will also be offered a permanent employment contract and you can
start in March or September each year. ING will also cover the cost
if you have to move to another country.
